What is design thinking

Design Thinking is a design methodology that provides a solution-based approach to solving problems. It's extremely helpful in tackling complex issues that are ill-defined or unknown, by understanding the human demands involved, by re-framing the issue in human-centric ways, by producing many ideas in brainstorming sessions, and by embracing a hands-on strategy in prototyping and testing.

Understanding these five phases of Design Thinking will enable everyone to employ the Design Thinking methods so as to solve complex issues that happen around us in our businesses, in our nations, and even on the scale of our world.

The first phase of the Design Thinking process is to acquire an empathic understanding of the issue you are attempting to solve.  This entails consulting experts to discover more about the subject of concern through observing, engaging, and empathizing with individuals to understand their motives and experiences, in addition to immersing yourself in the physical environment so that you are able to obtain a deeper personal understanding of the issues involved.  Empathy is imperative to a human-centered design process such as Design Thinking, and empathy enables design leaders to set aside their own assumptions about the world so as to obtain insight into customers and their requirements.

Based on time constraints, a significant quantity of information is gathered at this point to use during the next phase and to create the best possible understanding of the consumers, their requirements, and the issues that underlie the growth of that specific product.
Define
The second phase of the design thinking process asks "designers" to synthesize the data collected during the empathize phase to be able to identify insights regarding the issue or issue being considered.  While designers may get an idea of what the problem is before the empathy phase, the design thinking process encourages them to "deep dip" throughout the empathy phase to create true insights that may have been overlooked if the problem has been defined before the research started.
Ideate
To ideate would be to generate a stream of thoughts over a concentrated period of time; ideas can be good, bad, and everything in between but should build on the ideas of others in the conversation.  Brainstorming is the most common form of ideation, but many other strategies exist.  A fantastic ideation session includes a diverse group of people with different perspectives and interests.
Prototype
Prototyping involves creating a low-stakes manifestation of an idea to share with other people for opinions, essentially a rough draft or minimal viable product (MVP).  Prototypes might take the form of a drawing, storyboard, blueprint/outline, video, mock-up, model, or role-play (for a process), for example.  Creating the prototype helps the designer think through the idea and helps the audience understand and supply feedback on the idea.
Test
In this last phase of the iteration, the designer presents the prototype to stakeholders and constituents to create specific and strong feedback.  The testing process consists of various methods like A/B version testing, user interviews, focus groups, direct and indirect observation, and user feedback to guide the next iteration of a service or product.

Design thinking is a complex, proven, and logical approach to a new product design that should be given a thought during the product frame in an organization.  Of course, it can not happen overnight or emerge unless there is someone who adheres to the idea. But it's highly suggested for companies that are keen on establishing a more interactive and holistic approach to Layout.
