Google first introduced Cloud print in April 2010 as a future solution for printing from the Chrome Operating system. It is a service provided by Google which allows its users to print any application from its desktop, mobile, etc (which can directly access the cloud print service through the internet) without actually installing hardware devices. This user has to send a document to google for printing and google will do the rest process. If your chrome can not connect to the Google Cloud Print then it also provides the facility of ‘Cloud print Connector’- which lets printers plugged into a Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac, or Linux computer with internet access to use cloud print with the connector running in Google Chrome.
In this, documents or applications are printed through a web based common print dialogs such as a web interface or Application programming interface. Firstly, the service forwards the job to a printer that is registered to the service. Cloud-ready printers can directly connect to Google Cloud Print. These Cloud-ready printers can connect directly to the web and do not require any computer to set up.
From July 2013, Google allows printing from any windows application if Google Cloud Print is installed on the machine. In this way, Google Cloud Print service can run as a Windows service so that classic printers (which cannot accept input from a cloud service) can now connect to Google Cloud Print.
Nowadays, every web page, Apps are becoming more advanced and users also expect this type of service from their machine which is really very difficult. And in this context, Cloud print fulfills these requirements with great ease. Thus, today apps no longer rely on the local operating system or drivers for printing. Instead, apps use Google Cloud Print to do printing works. These printers are treated in the same way as documents are treated in Google Docs. This service is now integrated with mobile Gmail and Google docs and will integrate with more apps in the coming time. This will make it more user friendly and feasible.
